The euro declined amid optimism regarding Greece. On Monday Greek sources said that Athens agreed to extend financial aid program by the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank. However it is still unknown for how long the program will be extended. At the same time some sources reported that a deal may be reached on Wednesday and announced on Thursday.
Japanese yen fell against the dollar as the Nikkei stock index gained.
Preliminary China HSBC PMI data showed that contraction slowed down in the country's manufacturing sector in June. The index rose to 49.6 from 49.2 reported previously, while it was expected to advance to 49.4. There is some improvement, but the index remained below the 50 points mark, which separates contraction and expansion. Manufacturers continued to reduce the number of employees amid subdued demand in China and overseas.

GBP/USD: the pair fell to $1.5760
